SAFETY TRAINING
1. Purpose
To provide employees with an ongoing training program to recognize and avoid unsafe conditions that apply to his/her work environment.
2. Superintendents/Foremen
Superintendents, foremen and newly promoted foreman shall be trained by a member of the safety department in the following:
Safety Indoctrination - How to Conduct
Safety Training - Craft Personnel
Accident Prevention
Job Site Inspection
Accident Investigation
OSHA Standards
3. Craft Personnel
Superintendents are responsible for conducting a Safety Training Session with all craft employees assigned to his/her project. Training modules are located at the end of this section.
To assist in the presentation of the Safety Training Session, the following guidelines are provided.
Select the topic for the session several days in advance.
Schedule the session at the same time every week and hold it in the work area, if possible.
Start on time.
Use the training modules to get your employees to participate in the session.
Maintain control. Do not allow the session to develop into a "bull session".
At the end of the training session review any special conditions of up coming work.
Review any injury or incident that occurred
during the past week. Discuss what the
injury or incident was, how it happened and how could it have been prevented.
Be sure to cover any new MSDS's that may have been received.
At the end of the training session record the date, time and topic on the Training Attendance Report and have each employee sign. The superintendent shall also include his/her comments and sign.
One copy of the Training Attendance Report shall be kept on file at the field office. The original shall be sent to the safety coordinator at the Memphis office.
